History

From 2003 to 2005 the German band "Do You Mind" (DYM) actually has been a solo-project of David Sestendrup. In summer 2005, however, due to the demand of his friends and family to start a band and perform his songs on stage, the band consisting of David Sestendrup (voc/git), Jürgen Sestendrup (bass/voc), Ralph Bittner (git/voc) and Johannes Tennagels (drums) has been founded. Since then, they are on the road to bring the positive feeling their music incorporates out to the people.

Their "Pop punk" is a mix of pop and american punk rock associated with bands like Blink 182, Simple Plan, Sum 41 or Good Charlotte as well as sunny Southern California, party at the beach and kick ass punk rock shows.

The first highlight came soon. In autumn 2005 DYM scored first place in a number of online charts. On “myownmusic.de” als well as “track4.de” they were rated number 1 for several weeks.

Even "EinsLive", the most popular radio station in the state of Northrhine Westfalia, Germany, was full of praise when DYM was featured in their show "Heimatkult", which introduces and promotes newcomer bands.

In 2006, the four guys of DYM started recording their first album "remember the good time", the songs David wrote and produced for his "DIY-preproduction" album. Besides their work in the studio, the guys were busy playing live, too. After winning a newcomer contest annouced for the whole of Northrhine-Westfalia (pop. 18 million) they had the honor to open up at the "Rock am Bad Festival" for Germanies newcomer top act “Revolverheld”.

The year 2007, however, was even more successful for them. During spring they participated in a context of "BRAVO", the leading magazine for teenagers on music, stars and lifestyle in Germany, and were voted among the top 10 newcomer bands in the country. Soon the festival summer came up and the guys was given the huge honor of playing the Coca Cola-stage on one of Germany´s biggest festivals, the "Hurricane"- festival, while taking part in Coca Cola´s "Soundwave Discovery Tour". This said tour peaked in the particular show the guys will never forget, the final show at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, playing for more than 30.000 people.

All those memorable moments shall not conceal the fact, that the band is still a regionally known band and not doing the whole thing as a daytime job so, while enjoying the good time they´ve had throughout the years, it was time to take a step forward.

The work on their second album began in spring 2008. The band decided to stand on their own feet and do all the recording, mixing and mastering themselves. Finally, in december of 2008, their second album "Four Of A Kind" was released and the band started in a new year 2009. In this year one highlight was a concert together with the german band Luxuslärm.

Although the band took a break without concerts in the first half of 2010 to make decisions regarding their jobs and private life, they kept on practicing their live show. Later that year they get the possibility to support the H-Blockx as well as Luxuslärm again on one of their tour concerts in autumn of 2010.

At the beginning of 2011 the band decided to change the concept of the band. To manage their jobs as well as their music they want to see the band less as a live-band but more as a producing band. From now on the band intends to work on new songs, planning to release them from time to time on an irregular basis. The band is has best hopes for the future und hopes that your big support will be continued. Big thanks to all who made all of this happen.
